What is an Air Purifier?

An air purifier is also called an air cleaner. It is a device that is used to remove contaminants from the air. It uses in a room to improve indoor air quality. Normally, the commercially graded air purifiers are made as either small stand-alone units or they come in larger units that can be affixed to an air handler unit which also called (AHU) or to an HVAC unit which is found in the medical, industrial & commercial industries. An air purifier may also be used in the industry to remove impurities like CO2 from the air before a specific type of processing.

Uses of Air Purifiers

Air purifiers can be used for multiple reasons in apartments or homes or in big industries. These are good for those who have dust or pollen, pet dander, mold spores, & dust mite feces allergies. These can act as allergens, by triggering allergies in sensitive people. Similarly, smoke particles & volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can also pose a risk to health. Because exposure to numerous components like VOCs increases the likelihood of experiencing symptoms of sick building syndrome. Air purifiers keep the indoor air clean & keep you away from all sorts of allergen particles.

Techniques of Purifying

Typically, There are 2 types of air purifying technologies, one is called active & the second one is called passive.

Active air purifiers releases negatively charged ions into the air, causing pollutants to stick firmly to the surfaces. On the other hand, passive air purification units use specially made air filters to remove pollutants. If we compare both techniques, we will come to know that, Passive purifiers are much more efficient, because dust & particulate matter is permanently removed from the air & collected in the filters.

How do air purifiers work

Air purifiers remove dangerous pollutants from the air using one of 3 common methods: filtration, electrostatic precipitation & ionizing. However, the (EPA) warns about the risk of special ozone created by some electrostatic & ionizing air purifiers. On the other hand, using filter-based air purifiers is largely considered healthier & much more effective than ozone generators.

The most effective & ideal form of air filtration is a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate absorber) filter. The air purifiers models with filters pull in your home’s air & move it through the filter with a special circulating fan. When the air goes through each filter, dangerous pollutants & particles or airborne allergens are caught in the filter. Then it pushes the clean air back to your space. Keep in mind that, HEPA filters do a better job than standard air filters. Because they can catch finer particles & purify the air more thoroughly.

Before you buy

You can get air purifiers under $100 to well over $1,000. The major difference is the amount of air (How much square feet) it is able to effectively purify. Furthermore, most of the models are designed to sit on the floor quite easily, but you can also find tabletop models & even wall-mounted designs too for air filtration. You have to find out which air purifier perfectly fulfills your requirements. So, carefully buy the air purifier & make sure you get an air filtration system which is big enough to fit your room & tackle your allergies like a pro.
